Jon Gilgoff has been active in boys and men’s work since he was teenager himself. Over the years, he has coached boys basketball, facilitated Rites of Passage programming, coordinated fatherhood programs, organized students and providers to affect these issues, and managed boys and men’s programs for the Educational Alliance and the Boys Project in New York City and in the Bay Area for the Girls Justice Initiative and Bayshore Child Care Services.

He has designed, delivered and directed responsible empowerment programs for males in schools, community centers, foster care agencies, residential and detention facilities. He is a Licensed Social Worker, a fluent Spanish speaker, a D.C. Court trained Mediator, a published writer in newspapers and journals, and a trainer and consultant locally, nationally and abroad. He has served on YNPN’s Advisory Board and been a Bowne Foundation and Progressive Jewish Alliance Fellow.

He holds his B.A. from Tufts University and his M.S.W. from Columbia University. He is a proud member of the Alameda County Urban Male Health Initiative and is working toward his Certificate in Nonprofit Management at CSU, East Bay. In his spare time, Jon likes basketball, hiking, writing, yoga, live music, dancing, learning and laughing.
